The typical pad is carried on structural fiber and welded wire mesh, the everyday Florida flatwork build. We escalate to a steel rebar grid only when the load is genuinely heavy or structural, which is the work rebar exists for, never a light residential pad sitting out in coastal salt.

Barrier and drainage where it counts

On enclosed or conditioned slabs we lay a vapor barrier to block the moisture a high water table pushes upward, and we shape the surrounding grade so storm water runs off the area instead of seeping down into the base.

Reinforcing, jointing, and curing

We place the mix, tool the control joints, and cure with Miami's heat and humidity in mind so the slab hardens uniformly from edge to edge.

How much does a concrete slab cost in Miami?

A pad prices to its load and the ground beneath it: reinforcement matched to the use, a base leveled across limestone and a high water table, and grading that sheds water. For a starting reference, most pads and slabs land around $7 to $13 per square foot, moving with thickness and whether a vapor barrier is called for. We size and price each one to the actual load it has to carry.

What reinforcement goes in a slab here?

Most residential pads ride on structural fiber in the mix and welded wire mesh through the slab, the standard Florida flatwork build. When the load is genuinely heavy or structural, say an equipment slab rated for trucks, we step up to a steel rebar grid, which is exactly what rebar is made for. We size the reinforcement to the real load instead of burying steel in a light pad where it only adds corrosion risk this close to the coast.

How thick does my slab need to be?

The load sets it. A shed pad carries a tiny fraction of what a garage or an equipment floor full of vehicles and gear puts down, so we tie thickness and reinforcement to your actual use and factor in the limestone and high water table sitting underneath.

Will a slab hold a hot tub, RV, or boat?

Yes. Each of those is a heavy, concentrated load, so we add thickness and reinforcement and bring in rebar where the weight truly warrants it. A hot tub in particular wants a level base that will not move as the ground wets and dries, which makes drainage every bit as important as the steel. Tell us the equipment and we build the pad around it.

Do I need a vapor barrier under the slab?

For enclosed or conditioned slabs, generally yes, since a high water table and damp Miami ground push moisture up through the concrete. We make the call based on how the slab will be used.

Does a concrete slab require a permit?

Some do, depending on size, location, and purpose, and Miami-Dade and its surrounding municipalities enforce that strictly. We flag a likely permit early so it is handled up front instead of surfacing midway through.
